Akoustik is a sound-memory game. This page explains what information it collects, why, and what control you have over it, in plain language, matching exactly what the app actually does.
01Overview
Akoustik is developed by Obarnet Games (Barnabas Jonas Jonathas). You can play the core game entirely anonymously: no account, no personal information required. Signing in with Google or Apple is optional, and only unlocks cross-device progress, public leaderboards, and player-to-player challenges.
02Information we collect
Account information
Every install gets an anonymous account identifier automatically, created by Google Firebase Authentication, so your local progress and settings can sync if you later sign in. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we additionally receive your name and email address (with Apple, you can choose to keep your real email private, and we'll instead receive a private relay address) from that account, and link them to that same account identifier. Google also provides a profile photo; Apple's sign-in doesn't offer one.
Gameplay data
If you set a display name and appear on a public leaderboard, or send/accept a Challenge, we store your display name, scores, and account identifier to power those features. If you send a Challenge or share a Sound Creator tune, we also store the tile sequence itself so the recipient can play it. This data is visible to other players by design (that's what a leaderboard and a player-vs-player challenge are).
Advertising identifiers
Akoustik shows ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use your device's advertising identifier to serve and measure ads. On iOS, this only happens if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. Declining it doesn't affect gameplay.
| Data | Collected when | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymous account ID | Always, automatically | Save local progress; link a future sign-in to it |
| Name, email, profile photo (Google only) | Only if you sign in with Google or Apple | Identify your account; recover progress on reinstall |
| Display name & scores | Only if you join a leaderboard or a challenge | Public leaderboards; player-vs-player Challenges |
| Advertising identifier | When ads load (iOS: only after ATT consent) | Serve and measure ads via Google AdMob |
What we don't collect: Akoustik has no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. We don't track your location, contacts, or anything beyond what's listed above.
03How we use it
- Keep your progress, replay balances, and settings saved across sessions and, if signed in, across reinstalls.
- Show your display name and score on public leaderboards, and deliver Challenges you send or receive.
- Serve and measure the rewarded and interstitial ads that keep the free version of Akoustik running.
05Your choices
- Play without an account. Signing in with Google or Apple is entirely optional.
- Opt out of the public leaderboard at any time from Settings. This removes any existing entry and stops future ones.
- Decline ad personalization via the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, or your device's ad settings on Android. Akoustik still shows ads either way, just less targeted ones.
- Delete your data by contacting us (below), and we will remove your account data on request.
06Retention & security
We keep account and gameplay data for as long as your account is active, so your progress and leaderboard standing remain intact. Data is stored with Google Firebase using their standard security practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we don't collect more than the game actually needs to function.
07Children's privacy
Akoustik is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us below and we'll remove it.
08Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continued use of Akoustik after a change means you accept the updated policy.
